New door & window report reveals Timber market trends
Looking at some of today’s beautiful long-lived wood windows and doors, it’s easy to forget what a journey Timber’s been on. It’s been transformed since the mid-1990s when it was at a cliff edge.
Wood, beautiful wood
From the design and standards to how they are made, installed, positioned and sold, almost everything has changed. And having been extremely product oriented, they are now also learning to market themselves and their products more effectively.

Many timber and joinery companies make other products too, from staircases, furniture to doors, whatever people ask for. But greater competition and a tough market is persuading many to specialise and follow the demand. That isn’t always windows and doors so the total numbers of companies making and/or installing timber windows and doors has been falling while the prospects for quality timber windows and doors companies have not looked brighter in 50 years.
